About Me
I am an engineering leader focused on building high-performing teams and reliable systems in fintech and payments.
How I got here (the short version)
I always wanted to be a penetration tester, but networking was always a weak spot for me. So was the hacker mindset. I remember signing up for the Offensive Security bootcamp in hopes of getting an OSCP certification. I quickly realized that pentesting is a mix of multiple careers, I was only trying to get my first one! I told myself I would start with programming and come back later.
I decided I would try out Android development after taking some Java programming classes in college. I got a Nanodegree through Udacity as a result. This taught me all the basics from UI design, to making network calls, and mobile storage.
After participating in a few hackathons, my team won the Tidal x Artswave 2017 Hackathon. This was a fun experience and a few of us decided to stick around and try to take the project further, until I got a job offer to join SoLo Funds as an Android Engineer.
When I joined, there was only a SoLo Funds iOS app and Node backend. My first major project was building the Android MVP from scratch and bringing it to parity with the iOS app. I was able to do this and get the Android platform launched in about 8 months. I ended up maintaining the app for the next two and a half years, until I got the opportunity to join the Backend team. I’m still working on the backend to this day and enjoy it thoroughly.
As an IC, I’ve worked on a number of major projects on the backend including:
- A full re-write from Node to Go
- SoLo’s Lender Protection feature
- Our Digital Wallet Product
- A Payment Vendor migration
- and more….
Today
My work sits at the intersection of:
- Payment platform architecture and reliability
- AI adoption strategy for engineering teams
- Software delivery systems that improve speed and predictability
I care most about outcomes: better customer experiences, stronger system resilience, and teams that can execute consistently without burnout.
Leadership approach
I lead by creating clarity and leverage.
- Align teams around clear priorities and ownership
- Design systems and processes that scale without heroics
- Balance delivery speed with reliability and long-term maintainability
- Stay close enough to engineering details to make sound decisions
Domain focus
Fintech and Payments
I am especially interested in payment orchestration, operational resilience, and designing systems that fail gracefully under load and complexity.
AI in Engineering Organizations
I explore practical, measurable AI adoption that improves developer experience and delivery outcomes, not vanity metrics.
Software Delivery
I focus on planning and execution models that help teams turn estimates into realistic commitments and ship consistently.
